Title:
Quantum-Centric Supercomputing: Current Status and Future Perspectives

Abstract:
Quantum computers enable simulations of quantum systems that are beyond the reach of classical computing. However, integration with high-performance computing (HPC) is essential to achieve the computational scale required for practical applications in fields such as chemistry and materials science. At present, quantum computers and HPC systems are often operated separately, and manual control can limit algorithm exploration and workflow flexibility.

In this talk, Quantum-Centric Supercomputing (QCSC), which flexibly integrates QPUs, GPUs, and CPUs, will be presented as a unified computing architecture. Its evolution will be described in three phases: the use of quantum computers as offload accelerators, integrated execution of quantum and classical computations, and ultimately the co-design of quantum computing and HPC.

The talk will also introduce collaborative efforts with RIKEN, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and Yonsei University, as well as the collaboration with The University of Tokyo linking the Miyabi supercomputer with IBM quantum systems, and will discuss how QCSC is being deployed in real-world computing environments.
